Telomere Test

Telomeres are sections of DNA at the end of each chromosome that serve as a cap to your genetic material. Shorter telomeres imply a shorter lifespan for a cell. Therefore, this test can give you your “biological” age.

The Telomere test allows the practice to compare the biological age to your chronological age. The telomeres protect your chromosome from damage from various damaging agents. As you get damage to your DNA, the telomeres get shorter and shorter. By measuring them, the practice can calculate the age of your cells. This enables your provider to tailor a plan directly for you depending on that biological age.

In the cases where your biological age is much higher than your chronological age, the practice can tailor a specific program that has an anti-aging effect to see if work towards delaying any further shortening of your chromosomal telomeres.
